Oakley Running
I’m a total sunnies fiend, and this Oakley Running editorial has been on my mind for ages. So, I teamed up with the talented Kelvin Van Vuuren to bring it to life—and these are easily my favorite images of the year.
Living in Newstead, I’m always seeing runners by the river—each with their own unique style. One thing I’ve noticed?
The louder and more obnoxious your sunglasses, the better you run. It’s just science.
In my opinion, Oakley makes the best athletic sunglasses on the market—whether you’re running, cycling, or hitting the snow. Their designs just have that perfect mix of performance and attitude.
For this shoot, I really wanted to capture motion—both through Kelvin’s movement and some dynamic lens work to create a sense of urgency and speed.
The lighting in the car park added another layer, with the mix of practical lights and flash making the shots feel bold and three-dimensional.
During my location scout, I knew we had to shoot on that spiraling ramp. The symmetry, keyholes, and clean shapes made for some super striking yet simple compositions.
This set is easily my favorite of the year so far, and I’m already looking forward to revisiting the Oakley Running theme again soon.
